Military Pension Board To Retiree’s Direct Your Concerns Through Official Channels

The Military Pension Board, on Sunday charged all the retirees of the armed forces to always channel their concerns through the official communication platforms.
The board also clarified that it is only the payment of gratuity that falls within its purview, saying payment of other allowances like Security Debarment Allowance, Packing Allowance, among others does not fall within its realm.
Ogun voice reports that hundreds of ex-soldiers hit the street last week Monday over unpaid entitlements ranging from SDA, four months’ withheld salaries, Packing Allowance and others.
Giving an update about the matter on Sunday, the board, through its spokesman, Aliyu Mohammed, explained that the protesting were engaged on a roundtable discussion.
Mohammed, a Squadron Leader said in a statement that the discussion was led by Chairman of the MPB, Abubakar Adamu, an Air Vice Marshal on Friday about their agitation at the Board’s Headquarters, Abuja.
He disclosed that the retirees were taken through the step-by-step process of how their gratuities were calculated, adding that clarifications were provided on all the concerns raised.
The MPB spokesman said, “In recent weeks, some voluntary retirees expressed concerns over unpaid entitlements. While several of the listed claims fell outside the jurisdiction of the MPB, the gratuity component, being within the Board’s mandate, was given immediate attention.
“In line with his open-door policy and proactive leadership approach, the Chairman of the MPB, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu, invited the concerned retirees to a roundtable discussion at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja on the 6th and 8th of August 2025.
“The meetings, which were attended by the Chairman, the Directors of Army, Navy, and Air Force Pensions, as well as other senior officers, were elaborate and highly interactive.
“During the sessions, the retirees were taken through the step-by-step process of how their gratuities were calculated, with clarifications provided on all queries raised.
“The transparent exchange not only addressed the specific concerns of the attendees but also helped strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the Board and the veteran community.
“The Board encourages all retirees to continue to channel any concerns through the official communication platforms, assuring that all matters within its purview will be addressed promptly and transparently.”
