D’Tigress Crowned African Champions, Clinch Record 7th AfroBasket Title

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have once again stamped their authority in African women’s basketball by defeating Mali 78-64 to win the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

The victory, secured in a gripping final, marks D’Tigress’ seventh AfroBasket title and an unprecedented fifth consecutive championship win—making them the first team in African history to achieve such a feat.

The team’s dominance in the tournament remains unshaken, as they extended their unbeaten run to 29 matches, maintaining a perfect record since.

D’Tigress previously won the title in 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023. With the 2025 triumph, they have become the undisputed queens of African basketball.

Their relentless performance in the final showcased grit, teamwork, and determination, as they overcame a resilient Malian side to continue their decade-long reign at the top of the sport on the continent.
