The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA has declared war against land grabbing activities in the local government.
He said that he will not tolerate the activities of land grabbers in the local government, adding that anyone caught would be prosecuted.
The Council Chairman disclosed this on Monday when he received the Area Commander, ACP. Olayemi Oladele Jacob in his office.
He submitted that he is committed towards curbing activities of the land grabbing activities in the local government.
The council boss commended the dedication of Officers and Men of the Nigerian Police Force, Divisional Police Officers in particular, comprises Mowe Division, Redeemed Camp Division, Wawa Division, Owode Division, Ofada Division for maintaining law and order across the council area.
He further enjoined the Area Commander, ACP. Oladele to build up more intelligence on the land grabbers perpetrating their unlawful activities on the government acquired lands, as it was reported recently of some unscrupulous elements who encroached into Local government quarters, claiming the land was sold to them without any proof.
He explained further that land grabbing is a grievous offence in Ogun State, as the Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON has issued circular letter, warning anyone or group of persons including traditional rulers not to get involved in cases related to land grabbing.
The council boss however enjoined the Newly posted Area Commander to be ready to dislodge any form of threats from land grabbers and other illicit activities in the local government area.
ACP. Olayemi Oladele Jacob in his speech assured the council boss of his readiness to work with the local government, saying that he is well familiar with the terrain.
He stressed that most of the DPOs serving in Obafemi Owode Local Government are one time or the other worked together before he became the Area Commander.
The ACP therefore pledged unalloyed loyalty to the government in maintaining a crime free council area and zero tolerance to any form of unrest, particularly the threat of land grabbers as against the directive and order of the Ogun State government.
Appreciating the courtesy visit, Hon. Saheed Ariyibi, Leader of the Legislative Council welcomed the Area Commander, ACP. Olayemi Oladele Jacob to Obafemi Owode Local Government, wishing him success in his responsibilities to uphold the order and peace around the council area.
In attendance at the meeting includes, Hon. Sobukonla Abiodun, Vice Chairman, Councillors, Supervisors, Head of Local Government Administration, Ms. Olufunke Adeniji, Directors and Heads of department respectively.
