In a continued effort to curb the cultism menace and foster Unity among the youth and students in Ogun Central, the Peace Initiative Committee has fostered unity with the school Management in Ogun to end the incessant cultism menace, end Insecurity, and embrace peace and unity across the state.
The Peace Initiative Committee (PIC), which housed relevant stakeholders across social groups in Ogun State, led by its Chairman, Comrade Hakeem Abioro, took the bold move on Friday to visit the Management of Federal College of Education on the school premises.
Speaking on behalf of the Provost at FCE, the Deputy Provost Academic, Dr. Joseph Bankoke Filani, commended the initiative, adding that management of the school is committed to the excellence of every individual who graduates from the school.
He disclosed that right from the inception of the college in 1976, the institution has not lost a session, which has enabled the institution to bag the award of most peaceful institution back-to-back in the last two years.
Filani added that the institution has a zero tolerance for anything that can negate the Peace of society, stating that it is one reason to ensure open hand operations whereby the SUG can meet the Provost at any time, describing the system as “loco parentis”.
He appreciated the PIC members for fostering peace in the society, hoping the move would stem the menace of cultism in the campuses, which has escalated to the larger society, and they all feel the heat.
Filani appealed to all relevant stakeholders to join forces to stem the menace of cult killing on campuses and outside the campuses.
Also, speaking, the Chief Security Officer of Federal College of Education, Mr. Olusola Ajibola, lauded the members of PIC for their bold move to ensure that Abeokuta becomes a haven of peace.
He posited that though the campus is peaceful, the hand support extended by the PIC gives assurance of absolute peace.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of PIC, Comrade Hakeem Abioro, disclosed that the committee had visited most schools in Ogun Central, which include Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, ICT Itori, and Federal College of Education, and others are still in the pipeline.
He highlighted the impact of the initiative in fostering peace and unity among students irrespective of the group they belong to.
Abioro, while addressing the students, admonished them to shun violence in everything they are doing, calling on them to preach the gospel of peace across the nooks and crannies of the state.
He said “We are trying to foster unity between the school and students to curb cultism. We have been to some schools including Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, ICT Itori, and Federal College of Education, while we are hoping ti visit FUNAAB and NOUN anytime soon”.

Addressing the social group leaders, the Chairman, Comrade Hakeem Abioro, warned that the primary assignment is what matters most, which is academic.
He urged them to be very focused on their academics and prioritise their life ambitions to ensure that they live a meaningful life.
Abioro also admonished them to shun violence in everything they do, calling on the student leaders to preach the gospels of peace across the nooks and crannies of the state.
The student leaders were well represented at the meeting and assured to co-exist with each other in peace and harmony.
