OGHA 2027:Akingbade Gets Imeko-Afon APC Nod as Aspirants Collapse Structure

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed the re-election bid of Hon. Jemili Akingbade, popularly known as KOWE, to the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 polls.
The endorsement was announced on Friday at the APC secretariat in Imeko-Afon by party leaders and key stakeholders, who also dismissed a purported communiqué circulated by some groups within the local government, describing it as misleading and not reflective of the party’s position.
The stakeholders, citing Akingbade’s performance and effective representation at the State Assembly, said the decision was reached to ensure continuity, as some aspirants who had earlier shown interest in the seat voluntarily stepped down in support of a unified front.
Speaking before a communiqué affirming Akingbade’s candidacy was issued, two aspirants, Hon. Olalotan Olusegun and Hon. Aliu Onsa, jointly announced their decision to withdraw from the race.

They stated that the decision followed the adoption of Akingbade by apex leaders in the constituency, including Hon. Kayode Oladele, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, among others.
Olusegun, a former chairman of the APC in Imeko-Afon Local Government, said he and other aspirants deliberately stepped down as loyal party members, noting that the collective decision of the party must prevail.
Similarly, Hon. Aliu Onsa announced his withdrawal from the race in deference to the directive of the party’s apex leadership, stressing that the move was aimed at strengthening the progressive forces of the APC.
In his remarks, the APC chairman in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Hon. Adebolu Rahman, commended the aspirants for their sacrifices, describing their decision as a demonstration of progressive leadership and commitment to the development of the Imeko-Afon State constituency.

They also declared support for GNI continuity, and massive mobilisation for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi Governorhip bid.
